THE YOUTH OF TODAY

Tonight I was listening to an Eminem song “Sing For The Moment” which inspired me to write this post. As you know, I am 16 years old, still pretty young on a wide scale. Being a teenager is hard. For me, crazy hard. Your angry, upset and confused. You don’t know what you want to do when you grow up, you sometimes find it hard to find true passions for things in life. I’ve been there, well as a matter of fact I still am here. The reality is, everyone is facing a battle, whether it’s with themselves, divorces in the family, financial issues, inability to connect with the people around you and the never ending struggle for acceptance from society. You find yourself comparing to others, you do cry, you do get angry and sometimes you don’t even feel like being here. I know for me I like to sit in my room, blast music and block the world out. But this is something we all go through, some worse than others, but you need to find a way of coping and remember that it WILL get better. It will. It always does.

What does make me happy is that our generation is becoming more and accepting of self expression. The concept of someone being judged by their tattoos or piercing’s is totally frowned upon by the young society. The promotion of feminism and gender equality, as well as the ongoing fight for LGBS rights is a campaign that many young people are willing to fight for. We are moving forward. Being popular isn’t as popular as it use to be. In fact, the alternative lifestyle is becoming more and more attractive to this generation of youth.
With social media, we have found new ways to connect to people around the world, and this has become a vital aspect of many kids lives who wait up all night for their favourite youtube to post a new video. It’s truly amazing how we have this outlet that allows kids to get away from reality for a smile and just laugh.

Correspondingly, Music will always provide an outlet for kids, and that’s why its so f**king amazing. It’s the only language which is universal, and for many kids its reason they are still here. I love Eminem’s lyrics in ‘Sing For The Moment’
“That’s why we sing for these kids, who don’t have a thing

Except for a dream, and a fuckin’ rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who’s ever been through shit in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin’ they’d die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We’re nothin’ to you but we’re the fuckin’ shit in their eyes

Our generation is moving forward, invest time into discovering your passions and who you truly are, because if now isn’t the time when will it ever be. The reality is, people are not going to look down on you for the music you listen too or the fact that you have blue hair. In fact, people are becoming more and more attracted to individuality. You will find the more you express yourself, the more interested people will become in you. So wear what you want, say what you want, because there’s someone out there who will listen.

Peace out guys, have a good day. x
